I finished Dead Rising yesterday, true overtime ending and all. It really is a fantastic game—very well polished—and reminds me a great deal of the original Dawn of the Dead. If you have only seen the remake, it should definitely be on your rent list. Admittedly, when I first bought the game, I didn’t like it as well as I thought I would, and was rather frustrated at times. As I played it more, however, I only liked it better. I think it’s a combination of getting better at the game, and having my character be better because he’s more leveled up. It is one of those games you can get better at, after all. Not all are like this.
On a side note, I got to experience the workings of my XBox product replacement plan today at Best Buy; for as I was messing around in Dead Rising yesterday night, I heard a horrible sound emanate from my console just before I received the message “Disc Unreadable”. Truly enough, after reseting the machine, I could hear the drive head moving, but the drive didn’t spin up anymore.
Surprisingly, the exchange process was fairly painless, aside from having to stand in line twice. Indeed, after I had waited in line for about fifteen minutes, the guy at the counter made me get out of line to find the replacement for the console I had brought in. Once I had retrieved this item, he made me wait behind the six other people who had gotten in line after I had. One would think that he would let me at least cut in after the person he was helping while I was out retrieving the new product. At least I didn’t have to buy a new replacement plan. Having only been about two months since I purchased the first one, my old plan rolled over to my replacement console. In conclusion, their replacement plans are much improved from ten years ago when I last experienced them, but their service could do with a bit of the same, I think.
