I just started playing another interesting horror game, Cold Fear. As horror fare goes, it favors a more standard third-person 3D control scheme over the old Resident Evil tank controls, but in shooting mode, is quite a bit like the new Resident Evil 4 setup.
Anyway, it’s kind of cool—because you’re exploring a derelict oil tanker during a nasty storm, you get tossed around when you’re on deck, and can use this fact to your advantage against various enemies you may encounter. Managing to trick a monster into getting hit by a swinging crane hook can be satisfying. I also enjoy that, instead of forcing you to find save points all the time, the game prompts you to save periodically between objectives. It also seems to save often enough that it’s not really too irritating when you get killed periodically.
This is my impression at this point anyway; I’ve only played the game for about two hours so far. But any issues I have with it in the future will be offset by the fact that I only payed $10 for it new on amazon.
