House-type progress

Posted in Life on Wed, Aug 30, 2006, 11:58 pm

It’s been a while because I assumed I’d be done unpacking by now, but I’m not. I figured I should probably post an update though.

All my utilities are on and everything now—since last Monday actually—which is good, because I turned in the keys to the apartment yesterday. Huzzah. Anyway, I’ve been unpacking boxes little by little. So far, I’ve put away the kitchen, the bathroom, and my bedroom, pretty much. I bought a little bedside cabinet-type-thing to put my printer on, and hide the network behind. You can see the set-up in one of the pictures. There’s a towel in front of one of the windows in the bedroom; that’s to hold me until I have drapes, because my neighbor leaves his carport light on all night.

Also, I’m really liking the gas stove. I thought it would be difficult to adjust, but it works really slick. Not to mention the oven, which bakes casseroles better than any other oven I’ve used. So I guess I’m a convert.

I can’t describe this one without lessening the effect; just read the article.

Moving day

Posted in Life on Sun, Aug 20, 2006, 2:13 pm

I’m all moved in now. The movers came yesterday, boxed up all my stuff, and moved it over here to my house where I am now writing this; and they did it in about four hours. Not bad, considering the same job would have taken me the whole week most likely. The cable guy came later on in the day. Now I just have to wait until the city turns my water on—sometime tomorrow. Until then, I have to drive a block away to my apartment to shower and use the bathroom.

The house walkthrough

I had my final house walkthrough today; so I took some more pictures of the rooms now that they are no longer occupied by the previous owner’s furniture.

Consumer Electronics Show picks up E3’s slack

CES organizers are talking about a gaming trade show for smaller companies. Cool, that was the most interesting part of E3 for me anyway. The bigger companies have such good global marketing engines that I had heard of most of their stuff before I even got to the show.
